Sealed against water to 20 metres, this housing turns the phone already in your pocket into an underwater camera. Five physical keys drive the shutter, the zoom and the shooting modes over Bluetooth, so you can frame and shoot at depth without ever touching the glass. Built by TELESIN from ABS and polycarbonate around an aluminium alloy frame, with an anti-fog treated interior and an optical port passing up to 97 percent visible light, so what reaches the sensor is the reef rather than a haze.

Why we chose it

Most waterproof pouches stop at splash protection and leave you tapping uselessly at a screen that no longer responds. Water blocks the capacitive touch a phone relies on, so at depth the only controls that work are mechanical ones. This solves the actual problem: five real buttons under your fingers, a moulded grip that lets you shoot one-handed while the other hand steadies you against current, two quarter-inch threaded mounts for lights or a tray, and a vacuum pump so you can pressure-test the seal yourself rather than hoping.

Before first use, run the air-tightness test

Do this once before the housing ever goes near your phone. Open the case and place a tissue inside. Seal it, attach the vacuum cover, and submerge it in water for at least 30 minutes. Remove it from the water but do not open it yet. Then check the tissue: dry means the seal is sound, damp means you should contact us before using it. Repeat the test whenever the housing has been knocked or stored for a long period.

Setting up your phone

Pairing. Switch the housing on and pair it over Bluetooth as TELESIN_SDC. If nothing connects within two minutes it powers down on its own, so pair before you seal the phone in.

iPhone, one time only. Go to Settings, then Accessibility, then Zoom, and set Zoom Region to Full Screen and enable Zoom. This unlocks full button compatibility. The screen will magnify once Zoom is on; triple-tap to return it to normal. Nothing else needs changing, and Android devices do not need this step at all.

Samsung phones. These models will not wake the camera from a dark screen, so turn off auto-lock or set the screen timeout to its maximum, and open the camera app manually before sealing the phone in. Photo, Video and More are the supported modes. If you switch into More you cannot return with the mode button, so press the shutter once to come back.

Fit the safety strap early. Worth doing before you get in, particularly for scuba or freediving. It keeps your hands free for equalising and signalling instead of gripping a phone the whole dive.

Care and use

Pressure-test with the included vacuum pump before every entry, and check the seal for grit, sand or hair each time you close it. Rinse in fresh water after salt or chlorine and dry the housing fully before storing. The depth rating assumes an intact, correctly closed seal, so do not exceed 20 metres.
